Wonderwall Studios Teak Wood Collection

The team at this Dutch design powerhouse are huge advocates of teak root wood. It’s a by-product of felled plantation trees with distinctive water markings and sprawling grains borne from years under the soil.

When recycled and repurposed, Wonderwall Studios transforms this material into a premium quality, high performance timber with incredible resistance to heat and moisture. And, when given a new lease of life as a wall panel or wood carving, teak lends a delightfully natural look to interiors; an aesthetic that can be enhanced with the smart use of form, colour and contrast.

In this diverse collection, Wonderwall Studios has rightfully shied away from traditional concepts, choosing to work with the unique features of teak instead of against them. Expect plenty of design surprises that are, as always, delivered with impeccable craftsmanship.

In the true spirit of the company’s Mixed Salvage collection, the teak root wood used to create this wondrous selection of designs has been lifted, scraped, and scavenged from all kinds of abandoned sites – many of them located in Indonesia, the designer’s home from home. In some cases, it’s timber sourced from derelict buildings that once used to house multiple generations, and it bares its hard-earned scars unashamedly for all to see.

Coast

Enlivened with somewhat unusual watermarks, Coast certainly uses the natural variation within its reclaimed teak wood to its advantage. No two squares are the same, which makes for a design that offers something different at every glance. All Coast teak wood panels have been created using mixed salvaged timbers from across the planet.

Jazz

With its Dixieland diamonds and syncopated shapes, Jazz strikes a chord with designers looking for a different take on early 20th century Americana. To create these teak wood wall panels, Wonderwall Studios gathers the roots of teak trees from factories and forests before being selected, dried and hand cut into exquisite geometrical designs that celebrate the grain variations and plethora of colours found in this largely underused resource.

Jungle

Boasting loosely laid squared timber with liquid grain textures, Jungle delivers a glimpse into the tropical wilderness without overwhelming the eye. It’s a clear crowd-pleaser; a 3D wonder that works well in both traditional and contemporary interiors. These teak wood wall panels are made from mixed salvage that has been unearthed from the roots of trees plantages in various exotic locations.

Phoenix

Presenting Phoenix: a series of panels with an attractive avant-garde feel, developed using furniture grade reclaimed teak wood. Each piece has been hand decorated with traditional-style carvings, resulting in aesthetic innovations that make good use of scrap timber that has been affectionately sourced from unused buildings and given a much-deserved second chance at life.

Silver

With Silver, the production team at Wonderwall Studios have combined their penchant for fine art and divergent colours to deliver a collection of teak wood carvings that should really be considered sculptures in their own right. If you have a particular idea in mind for your project, custom commissions can be arranged.

Willow

Geometrically sawn for a clean, versatile finish, Willow is best suited to modern interiors that require depth without the drama. The teak wood used to create these deliciously tranquil wall panels has been recovered from the roots of felled plantation trees, turning otherwise hidden materials into impressive features for any home or commercial environment.

Cameo

Ring-like grains and well-developed water markings characterise Cameo. This design blends the organic features of teak root wood with the curves of an elongated hexagon to produce a scale-like wood panel design that’s bound to turn heads. All timber has been reclaimed from derelict buildings and felled plantation trees.
